Mbongeni Aaron “ Ras Obrigado” Ndlangamandla, a Reggae Recording Artist who captured Reggae music lovers affectionately called “Jahman” by those surround him all the time

Ras Obrigado was born in the place called Chwezi Ezitendeni around the area of Nkandla on the 20th of December 1970 in Kwazulu Natal Province.
Mbongeni Aaron “ Ras Obrigado” Ndlangamandla started Chwezi Primary School where he did his Junior Primary Studies. He then went on to Mnqandi high School due to his Family situation at the time he dropped out to help out his step mother since she was the only bread winner at home.
His passion in soccer led him to Johannesburg in 1993 to do trials with Kaizer Chiefs, six month later he moved to Moroka Swallos and that was in 1994. While at Kaizer chiefs he manage to train and rub shoulders with the former famous player Jan Malombo Lichaba, the same happened at Moroka Swallows reserve side within the former famous star like Joel Ace Mnini and Ben Zwane. A hard training sessions during his period at both clubs that will normally start at 15pm till 19pm then to 21h30 Monday to Thursday, he could still find time in between to do his Music as well.
In 1995 he was involved in a car accident and spend almost 9 month in the hospital without single soccer training and that led to him quitting soccer and any form of sports for good.


Ras Obrigado the Producer, Songwriter &Performing Artist was always passionate about the music and since his love of sport ended prematurely, in 1996 he joins the Mbaqanga Music Group that didn’t last long. He then teamed up with some friends to form another group in 1999 where they started stocking other musician’s CD’s and Cassettes from the Music warehouses and sell raising money to record their album. The group ended up splitting since the money raised was never enough to take them where they want to be

Aaron “ Ras Obrigado” Ndlangamandla’s Jounery luckily landed him in the hands of Titus Die Kapsedans Headgear in 2005 a well know local actor who appeared in various SABC 1 Stories such as Kwakhala inyonini the man he always admired and wished to meet while growing up. The union with Headgear helped him to record his first album called Harambee at his stable in 2007. The same year he manage to work with a Zimbabwean Gospel artist Velas Ngwenya as a backing Vocalist and a producer.

2008 brought him to work with Die Kapsedans on his album called Party, both as a back up singer and composer on certain songs. This was followed by a working experience with Pascalinah Thato Phale a Muvhango Tv Soap actress on her album called kwasakwasa as a backup vocalist and composer in one of her Song. From 2010 – 2014 he focused on building his career as a composer and producer while still backing the recording artist such as Millbejo Mehlo Mhlnga from Mozambique, Iziz’ elimnyama eastern cape Maskandi Artist.

2015 Ras Obrigado started working on his second album consisting tittled “Lengane” meaning this Child. The 10 track album took him 2 years to complete, with the help of N’Groove Sound he manage to release his album 2017 August. N’Groove Sound took over all the album marketing of Ras Obrigado’ latest album Lengane. That led Ras Obrigado Winning his first ever major award in South African entertainment – SATMA 2018 REGGAE ALBUM
While with N’Groove Sound he also worked With Legendary Mzwakhe Mbuli as backing Vocalist and the Click Click Bang (Kaizer Chiefs Suppoters’ album – Asambe Nono) as one of the lead singer and Backing Vocalist.

RAS OBRIGADO recently released his 2019 latest offering “here I am Lord”, full album coming November 2019.
