Mad Sunday Reggae and Dancehall Sessions
Mad Sunday Reggae and Dancehall Sessions set to resume on Sunday May 25, coinciding with the global African Liberation Day celebrations.
Mad Sunday Reggae Dancehall sessions in Cape Town have been providing a weekly dose of Reggae, Dancehall, Afrobeats and ZimDancehall for almost a decade, save for the periods when it was impossible to host (pandemic lockdown) or when they had to find a new venue.
DJ Bashmouth has been consistent in ensuring that the groove goes on and has worked tirelessly to secure suitable venues for the event. They had the longest run at Dubliner Club at the trendy Long Street in Cape Town CBD. Mad Sunday also had a short stint at the Cape Town International Conference Centre at Marimba Hall, before moving to the suburb of Montague Gardens at Kasi Lounge. The sessions have grown from strength to strength and have mutated over the years hosting a varied line up of DJ’s , Artists and themed parties.
The return of Mad Sunday will take place on African Liberation Day at a new venue in Castle Street, Cape Town. Being such a significant day, the organiser, Albert Zanganembo, has prepared a special line up., He explains: “I have compiled an amazing line up of different selectors from different generations. Since it will be Africa Day I will also be Starting a Reggae Movement that will cater not only music but a different classical experience from Live Recordings, Live Streaming, Sound Clashes, Dancehall Queen Competitions, Craft Markets, and more,”
Mad Sunday Cpt will take place every Sunday at Club 101 in Castle Street at number 101 Cape Town CBD. Cover charge is only R50 before 11pm.
