October the 10th is the date set and confirmed for a show in Zimbabwe. Konshens announced via an Instagram post. The other dates [Oct 6 – 9 and 11 ] are set for Africa. In the same video post, the European tour clearly states which cities he will be performing but when it comes to Africa, it seems Africa is still a country and Zimbabwe a city. It could be that the other countries or cities’ dates are not yet confirmed and that they are still in negotiations, or that the dates are open for booking; hence the ‘Africa’ date, perhaps it was best to have left it blank.
On the 29th of August he performed a massive sold out show in Uganda, Kampala together with Busy Signal. It was his third time performing in Uganda, so he is familiar with the continent and its geography.
Konshens, whose real name is Garfield Spence, had cancelled his Zimbabwe tour in 2014 due to Ebola fear and directives from the Jamaican government barring performing artists from that country to any country on the African continent. He was scheduled to perform at the Lion Lager Summer Beer Festival, and it could be that he is honoring his cancelled date hence Zimbabwe is confirmed.
This might be just a slight mishap from the management team, nevertheless, we are thrilled that more Jamaican artists are coming to perform on the motherland soil and hoping that one of the ‘African’ date is set for South Africa.
