Local Promoter postpones Scheduled Event to Avoid Date Clash with Burning Spear Concert in Malawi
In an unprecedented and commendable move, the orgnaisers of Jah Kings ReggaeJam postponed their event that was scheduled for October 26, 2024 at GrandBusiness Park.. It was billed as The Biggest Conscious Reggae Roots fest headlined by I-Wayne and Jah Mason and an impressive line up that included Balsto, Queen Fyah, Chizmo, Reggae Soul Sisters and more. The year before, the annual Jah Kings Reggae Jam fest brought a double act with Luciano the Messenger and Everton Blender.
When Burning Spear made the initial announcement of the One People Africa Tour 2024, only South Africa and Zimbabwe were confirmed. Kenya was on the bill but not confirmed yet because of the Gen Z Uprisings that was taking place then. The Teacher assured his Kenyan fans that the show will go on. Then the Kenya date was set and confirmed.. A few weeks later, more dates were announced and that included Malawi and Zambia.
Upon realising that the date set for One People Africa Tour in Malawi was 26 October, the same date Jah Kings Reggaejam was set to take place, the promoters were compelled to reconsider.. They had long announced the date for the Jah Kings Reggae Jam 2024 and were already promoting their fest.They issued a press statement to announce the postponement of their fest. It was a welcomed decision by fans and supporters.
In their release they stated that the ReggaeJam Festival 2024 has been postponed because Burning Spear’s concert will take place on the same date at Civo Stadium as part of his One People Africa Tour. To avoid a clash, ReggaeJam will be rescheduled to allow fans to attend both events. A New date will be announced and existing tickets will be honored, with refunds available for those unable to attend the new date..
“As part of his One People One Africa Tour the Legendary Burning Spear has announced a concert on the same date at Civo Stadium, as we proclaim Inity as a cornerstone of our Rastafari Livity we would not want our festival to clash with this iconic event of Reggae Music celebration.” – stated the Press Release.
The One People Africa Tour Malawi with Burning Spear and The Burning Band will take place on Saturday 26 October at Civo Stadium. More information will soon follow about ticket prices.
