Roots Unleashed by Conquerors Reggae Band at the National Arts Festival

Conquerors Reggae Band is all about roots Reggae, promoting a positive message through their music. The band plays roots reggae music, including ska and rock reggae, but mostly focuses on the roots sound.
The Conquerors are unleashing the roots at this year’s national arts festival, presenting a 60 minutes performance of original roots reggae music as part of the Virtual Fringe Productions at this years National Arts Festival. The aim of this production is to take roots reggae music to the people in the comfort of their homes, their safe space and to reach a wider audience on a national level, hence the concept roots unleashed. Like many other musicians and artists, reggae musicians have also been hard hit since the implementation of the National Disaster Management Act end March 2020. Since then, it has not been easy for the band, but the Conquerors has managed to remain resilient and secured some gigs during lockdown like the V&A Waterfronts take the stage series and performing consistently at Mojo Market & Legit Lit, where they backed artist like Ras Jabulani(ZW) and Empress Naphtali.
The band also participated in Iziko Museums South Africa Enduring Covid project where they highlighted the impact of covid on the arts with a focus on the impact it had on the band. The band is growing form strength to strength and continues to push the message of one love, peace and unity through their original roots’ reggae music.
Roots Unleashed is a pre-recorded performance of original roots reggae music performed by the Conquerors Reggae Band at Gallery 44 and Theatre on Long.
