The Conquerors Reggae Band is all about roots Reggae, promoting a positive message through their music. Inspired by the Rastafarian way of life and the will to promote the spirit of One Love, peace and harmony.  The band plays roots reggae music, including ska; rock reggae, dancehall but mostly focuses on the roots sound.

Spreading positive messages while making you skank to grooving rhythms is what the Conquerors Reggae Band aspire too. Often referred to as the Conquerors, this live reggae band was formed in 2009 and has been spreading good vibes ever since. Rising out of Scottsdene, kraaifontein in cape town where gang  violence is on the rise, the band would like to be a light in this dark and unstable time. Roots reggae music is their weapon coupled with positive conscious lyrics and hard working ethic.

The band was started and founded by lead singer Francois Pietersen in 2009. Francois also known as “Ras Dan”   use to be a prominent bass player for various reggae bands including the likes of: Rockstone, Home Grown, Igziber, Musical Youths, etc. Having performed at various events such as the Monwabisi Sunplash, May Day Rally, Minstrel Competitions, Paarl East Fest; Ras Dan brings a variety of experiences to the band. The band was started together with Ocasia Booysen the bass player and Ras Dans Eldest daughter on keys and eldest son Drums.

Having performed at Reggae festivals such as Sunny Ocean, Annual Paarl Sunsplash, Monwabisi Reggae Legends Sunsplash, Africa Unite Festival and Jammin Reggae Festival, they keep on rising. Other festivals include the annual Bob Marley Festival and Cape Town One City Many Cultures Festival. A highlight for the band was opening the jamming reggae fest 2017 headlined by Gentlemen (Germany) which was backed by Azania, SA’s finest reggae outfit. The proceeds of this event went to the Bridges School of music in Langa. Another highlight was playing at the Lucky Dube tribute headline by Nkulee Dube at Athlone Stadium, Cape Town.

The band also works with the One Love Gathering Move Foundation a Not for profit organisation which use music to edutain the people and provide food for communities in which it is active for the day.

Notable reggae bands and artist The Conquerors has shared stages with includes Azania, Sons of Selassie, Roots Rockers, The Rudimentals, Crosby, Bliksemstraal, Jah Link and many other local artists. The band is growing form strength to strength and continues to push the message of one love, peace and unity through their original roots reggae music.
