Nubian Soul Releases a Trilogy on the Subject of Land and Sovereignty
Nubian Soul Released three lead singles from his upcoming second studio Album All Gunz Blazing set for release on June 27, 2025. The twelve track Albumb has three instrumental Dub tracks. The songs are produced by Mulalo Mukwevho and (original versions) by Ananius Begwa. The album took inspiration from many artists and different genres of reggae music. “At the end, I wanted to be playing my own style as best as possible,” explains Nubian Soul. The album will be available on all online platforms from the 27th of June. However, the record label, OneStep Music, has decided to sponsor fans who still play CDs with a free album. They will give away a total of 100 CDs of the album All Gunz Blazing to fans and followers.
About Nubian Soul
Nubian Soul, real name, Langanani MBODI is a medical doctor, a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and Gynaecologic Oncologist. When he is not attending to patients at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in SOWETO, he is in the studio in VENDA recording music with his long time associate and producer, Mulalo Mukwevho. Radio Thohoyandou had a show called Irie Reggae that not only played the music but gave a lot of background on the culture, the spirituality and the background of artists. “It was through a Radio program that I fell in love with Dub Music, the Music of Prince Far I, Mutabaruka, LKJ, Scientist and others,” explains Nubian Soul.
It was during the Pandemic and lock down period that he started and registered a music label, OneStep Music, which was initialy aimed at assisting artists in distributing their music online. He then started writing songs for artists such as Aweeh and King Don. The label also released one album for reggae artists Radical Dread, Jininka and the legend Shufflers Ragimana, as well as Poet Mudogwa.
In 2023, he worked with Ananius Begwa to bring to life some of the tracks that he had written and arranged. The first album, Wisdom, was then released under OneStep Music. and was immediately followed by a Dub Version . It was then that the second album, All Gunz Blazing was birthed. An entirely different project and leaning heavy on the Dub side of Reggae. “The album talks about politics, and calls for the end of social ills, the need for love and unity, and spirituality.” – explains Nubian Soul
