Nicole – AbiYah Yisrael – Christian-Alfred, is the 6th and last member of the house of Mr. & Mrs. Adolphus and Sonia Christian. She grew up in Glasgow, a sub urban area in the south west of Dominica, in a home where strong Christian principles were enforced, taught and exemplified. While attending University she was introduced to the authentic conscious sound of organic roots rock reggae where her love and understanding of reggae grew. Influenced by the lifestyle of her significant other she soon took up an unfathomable interest in the Hebraic teachings of the Kodesh Scriptures and has made and is continuing to make drastic life changes. Now grown, she lives in the eastern rural parts of Dominica called Castle Bruce, eating from the soil and drinking from the springs. There, AbiYah (Ah-bee-Yah) is working with an independent Label Chayah Studios which she co-owns, as well as Ever Blazzing Production out of Germany. She continues to plan her exit from Babylon and call others into light of the Kingdom which has become her paramount objective.

From the tender age of 5 AbiYah has been involved in music taking part in various competitions and live shows, recently emerging as 3rd runner up in the Dominica Calypso Finals in February, 2021. In 2012, at that time ‘Nicole Christian’, she released a gospel album called “Speak To Me”. That same year AbiYah was enrolled at the University of the West Indies, Cavehill Campus, where she successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. There, her perspective on religion, life and history shifted causing her to pull back from music for about 6 years.

AbiYah has now reemerged as a new artist singing what she refers to as “Truth Music”. Her music is heavily influenced by the songs of Nasio Fontaine, Marcia Griffiths, Denis Brown, Lucky Dube, Aretha Franklin, Yolanda Adams, among many others. AbiYah identifies herself as an African, a daughter of the nation of Israel and her lyrics reflect those views.

Clear as the crystal waters of Dominica AbiYah delivers vintage sounds of Afro-Caribbean roots meshed with a spiritual lyrical adroitness. This is heard through her new and prior releases such as “Ital Farmer” (2021), “Tell Me” (2021), “Leve” (2021), “Protect Me” (2021), “Love In My Heart” (2020) from Empathy Riddim produced by Lavoro Duro of South Africa, “Bloodshed In The City” (2020), “Calabash Running Over” (2020), “Herb Tree” (2020), “Kum Ba Yah” (2018) and “If We Could Love” (2017). “Calabash Running Over” and “Herb Tree” are on the ‘Prayer Riddim’ and ‘I Great Riddim’ albums respectively, both produced by Francis Kaumba of Ever Blazzing Production.

AbiYah Yisrael is determined to take on the great commission of enlightening others through her music so they become aware of themselves and identity.
