Ashraff 30 from Senegal Live in Johannesburg

Ashraff 30

Ashraff 30 backed by Zionruts Family Live in Johannesburg

In December 2018, two years after the second album “Colours and Cultures”, “Nostalgy” was released: 13 tracks that open a window on the many different ways in which nostalgia can manifest itself in each of us, but it is also a very personal album in which Ashraff 30 sings his own intimate sentiment of nostalgia that he feels, above all, for Mother Earth, for Africa. It is no coincidence that the first single of the album is the song Mankind’s Cradle, the cradle of humanity. There is also space for features with the tracks “Jambaar Door Waar” in collaboration with Ombre Zion and “Sangue Bi”, and “Remember That” with Sista Awa.

Ashraff 30 (born on 2 January 1979) is an artist from Dakar, Senegal. He draws influence from his father who loved listening to music from such artists as Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff, and Alpha Blondie. During his youth in Senegal, he measures himself with the Hip Hop genre, but it is in Reggae that he finds his own way. In the early 2000s he moved to Italy and that’s where everything started. In 2006, he won the Best Performer prize at the Musica Controcorrente competition. In 2007, he co-founded his first reggae group Kayamama with some Italian musicians. The following year, Ashraff released his debut EP ‘Tambali’. In 2011, he won the Emergency competition at Alcatraz in Milan, Italy. In 2013, he released his debut album ‘On the Way’, followed by a very successful Italian tour.
