This year alone, the Reggae Community had to bid farewell to about five of its members who departed to the ancestral lands, most of them were young and the hand of death struck unexpectedly too soon at separate occasions. It has been trying times for the immediate families and close friends and fellow colleagues.
It is against this back drop that Jah kongo, The African Warrior, wrote the song – One Day – to pay homage to the fallen soldiers, members of the Reggae Community who in their own special way have contributed to the genre and have left their mark in the lives that they touched. He teamed up with the soulful Sista Bella to render this fitting homage, laid on a one drop riddim. The song was initially written for his friend who passed on in February 2013, but with all the loss experienced this year, he decided to release the song this year and make a collective dedication to all ‘the fallen Soldiers’.
