MAYA ASIYAH ROZE
Born of revolutionaries, Maya Roze has done profound work as an arts activist and vocalist. She had a vast exposure to music and arts during her childhood years which propelled her passion in poetry, music and spoken word. Maya aspires to share the love,wisdom, pain, challenges and victory through her chosen creative path. She brings song and prose into the soundtrack of all lovers with silent voices.
Palesa Makara affectionately known as Maya Asiyah Roze is an arts activist, commentator and practitioner specialising in spoken word and live music performance. She was born in Gaborone, Botswana to a MoSotho mother and a South African father who was in exile. She moved to Bulawayo in Zimbabwe in December 2014. She is renowned for the spoken word movement in Botswana; hosting Poetry and Soul sessions in Gaborone for four years. Maya has collaborated with Owen Maseko of Zimbabwe, US artists, Shola Joy, Jerry Thomson and Josiah Woodson. She has also performed with Perfect Pitch, Basarwa and Bingi Vibes Band at the Fete dela Musique concerts from 2011-2015 and has engaged in cross-cultural exchanges hosted by Alliance Francaise. The program included neo-urban deejay, visual artist and producer La Belle and collaborated with global lounge house music producers Groove Cartell in Botswana, Federico Luyo in Italy, Vincent Kwok in South Korea and Bodhi Satvha in the US.| | | Next → | Single Page« Back to Glossary Index
